Krokbragd is Norwegian for "crooked paths". Years ago, while the men were gone for many weeks and months on fishing expeditions, the women would come together to naturally dye wool and weave these unique crooked paths. Most were used to cover cracks in the walls, or over doors and windows to keep the cold out. Some were mounted on sheep fleeces and used as duvet covers. Today, most Krokbragd pieces are used as floorcoverings.
This 8" x 8" colourful Krokbragd piece has been handsewn onto a hand felted Icelandic sheep fleece (available at Kimber Valley Farms, Kimberley, ON) to form a wonderful wall hanging. What a unique, one of a kind piece to adorn the walls of your rustic cottage or chalet.
